Tube End Reduction

Tube End Reduction

Similar to tube tapering (which is tube end reduction over a longer, angled length) tube end reduction can be performed on either rotary reducing machines or hydraulic end formers. The latter, using a static forming die and clamps can form tubes up to a 5.5" diameter which is far greater than that of rotary swaging

Rotary reduction however has other benefits. These are:
  • No interruption to the grain structure of the parent material.
  • Work piece can be of a hot or warm condition. Ideal for heavy wall components.
  • Tube layering. Tubes of different metals can be reduced one onto another creating a 'sandwich' effect.

Capacities

  • Max start for tube end reduction 5.5"
  • Max wall thickness for tube end reduction 5mm (unless hot rotary)
